about

michael9 is where i journal my music practice. the music i make is built on years of guitar playing combined with custom music composition software. and lately, also custom synthesizers, and custom studio plug-ins. on linux.

i grew up listening to glam and thrash metal while working with computers in a time when it was odd that a child was writing C. i mean, it's still weird if a child is writing C, but for very different reasons. other side of the bell.

i came to singing later in life, and most of my vocal influences are acquired tastes. i unapologetically enjoy prog metal.

it's either for you, or it's not. to be fair... it's not always for me, either. but i sure do love it when i manage to tap into something great.

i'll just leave you with this:

all this machinery making modern music
can still be open-hearted
not so coldly charted
it's really just a question of your honesty
yeah... your honesty
one likes to believe in the freedom of music
but glittering prizes and endless compromises
shatter the illusion of integrity... yeah
